A major governorship aspirant from the All Progressives Congress(APC) Mrs Jumoke Anifowose ,Friday , called on Nigerian politicians to embrace democratic tenets and learn from the June 12 experience towards reshaping the democratic culture of the nation.
Anifowose who is one of the contenders for the governorship election within the APC in Ondo State for the October 2020 poll gave the charge in a message to this year’s Democracy Day celebration amid COVID-19 pandemic ravaging the World.
Mrs Ajasin-Anifowoshe emphasized that the incident that happened during June 12 and sacrifices made by late MKO Abiola gave room for the current democratic platform.
“MKO Abiola paid the supreme price so it is essential we appreciate this as Nigerians and remember him at all times’.
“The democratic legacy Chief Abiola left must be sustained and allowed to guide us in the practice of democracy in Nigeria”.
Mrs Ajasin-Anifowoshe described the June 12, 1993 Presidential elections where Late MKO Abiola won with landslide victory as unprecedented and that it remains sacrosanct in the Nation’s history.
Mrs Ajasin-Anifowoshe who is the daughter of the late sage,and nadeco chieftain Pa Adekunle Ajasin, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the wisdom of approving June 12 as Democracy Day in Nigeria.
Mrs Ajasin-Anifowoshe wishes Nigerians a happy celebration and urges them to remain steadfast and pray for the leadership and growth of the Nation.
