Tension is building up as faceoff has occurred between a cassava farmer and herdsmen who allegedly used their cows to destroy large expanse of cassava farms located at Owobamigbe Farm settlement, along Ileyo Isagba Road, Akure, Ondo state.
It was gathered that trouble started when the son of the farmer met some herders at the farm uprooting his cassava to feed their cows.
He was macheted in an to stop the herdsmen from further destroying his farm.
The herders were alleged to have inflicted various degrees of injuries on him before he was rescued from the scene by other farmers.
One of the farmers, Mr Michael Abiodun, said villagers had started leaving the area for the fear of further attacks by the herdsmen.
Abiodun said they are not going to sleep in their Hamlets for now because anytime they have issues with Fulani herdsmen, they would always come back at night to attack them.
