Shola Ilesanmi, One of the multi talented journalists in Nigeria and senior reporter with the Ondo State Broadcast Media Group has bagged Chronicle Magazine’s Outstanding Journalist of the year Award.
Ilesanmi was honoured alongside other eminent personalities at the Ondo based tabloid’s 7th Anniversary, Lecture and Award held in Akure,the state capital.
According to the Publisher and Editor-in-chief of the Chronicle Magazine, Olaseeni Oyesusi, the Award recipients were carefully selected by the Award Screening Committee and came up with names of people of impeccable characters.
He showered encomium on Mr. Ilesanmi for contributing to the development of journalism in Nigeria and urged him not to relent in his effort to make the society a better place through his impactful stories.
The young and vibrant journalist is reputed for his numerous brilliant and ground breaking reports including the ‘Exclusive Empty graves, decomposing Corpses, human parts, the story of Akure Cemetery’, ‘Akure Explosion’ and ‘Sotitobire Church Missing boy’.
In his response, Shola Ilesanmi commended Chronicle Magazine for the honor and promised not to relent as according to him, the reward for hardwork is to work harder.
Ilesanmi is a recipient of several awards and recognitions within and outside the media profession including the award of excellence from the management of OSRC, nominee, Television Reporter of the Year, Ondo State Media Awards (2020) to mention a few.
Other recipients at the Chronicle Magazine Award ceremony include, Mr. Femi Bayode, Fembay Music; Musician of the Year, Dr Sunday Owoyemi, CEO Sunbeth Hotel; Businessman of the Year, Hon. Tayo Eniku of Eniks Omos Group of Company as the Entrepreneur of the Year; Dr. Sunday Owoyemi, CEO, Sunbeth Hotel as Outstanding Businessman of the Year; Mr. Babade Oluwatope, CEO, Topline Petroleum as Outstanding Oil and Gas Marketer of the Year; Mrs. Ogunji Funmilayo Ikujini as Woman Ambassador recipient and Israel Fagbemigun, CEO nigeriacablenewsonline.com as Outstanding Digital Media Expert of the Year.
Others include Princess (Barr) Oluyemi Bajowa, Regent of Ayeka Kingdom as Outstanding Monarch of the Year; and Pastor J.O Akinbodewa of CAC Oke Itura English Chapel, for Excellence in Faith and Leadership Award, Mr. Victor Olajorin as the Public Servant of the Year while the prestigious Man of the Year Award was given to Hon Olugbenga Omole, Member, Ondo State House of Assembly.
At the event, a public affairs analyst, Mr Ola Olalere Alaba delivered a lecture on Monetisation of the electoral Process and Challenges of Political Thuggery in Nigeria’s democracy.
