Residents raise alarm as banned Lagos Okada riders storm Ondo

Trucks filled with people suspected to be among those affected by ban on okada riders in Lagos state have been arriving Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Our correspondent gathered that the trucks have been coming to akure in batches for the past few days and converged on different Shasha markets with their motorcycles .

It was also gathered that the motive of the okada riders was to settle down in various locations especially other state capitals in southwest region.

It was however learnt that some state governments have rejected their settling down, describing it as security threat causing unnecessary panic among the people.

Some residents of Akure who spoke with ROVING REPORTERS described such development as the one that could pose security breach in the state.

They called on the state government to be proactive in ensuring security of lives and property ,especially with the new development.

In a reaction ,one of the Hausa Elders at Sabo in Akure, Galadima Babangida confirmed the influx of the okada riders from Lagos state into the state.

He explained that though some of them would stay in Ondo state and continue their okada business , others had been moved back to their various state of origin.

Mr Galadima called on the people of Ondo state not to panic as there would be proper registration of those brought into Ondo state.
