Police debunk rumours surrounding Ondo killing

The Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Undie Adie has urged the people of the state to disregard the falsehood going round that a helicopter was seen dropping arms and ammunition to a rebel group in the forest of Arimogija, a boundary town between Ondo and Edo States.

The police commissioner in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer ,Tee Leo Ikoro on Wednesday claimed the rumour is the handiwork of mischief makers.

Adie noted that pictures or video of such would have been on the social media If truly it happened, maintaining that Ondo Police Command with its spread in the State is doing everything possible to protect the people of Ondo State and would not succumb to any kind of blackmail or falsehood that will dent its reputation as the only State in the Country with the lowest crime rate.

He further warned those mischievous elements in the State to channel their thought patterns to a more sensible and productive thinking that will bring peace, tranquility and development to Ondo State, rather than resorting to widespread falsehood.

It would be recalled that a week ago, some hoodlums attacked and killed two men in the forest of Arimogija which almost sparked the anger of some youths in the community but the timely intervention of the Police forestall any breakdown of law and order, however the Commissioner of Police has ordered a discreet investigation into the murder case, while a combined team of Policemen and soldiers are on the trail of the killers of the two men.
