The National Law Drug Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ondo State Command has carried out a sensitization walk against the negative effects of drugs.
The sensitization walk is part of activities to mark the 2022 World Drug Day.
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit drug Trafficking is observed on June 26 every year.
The aim is to spread awareness about the physical and psychological impact of substance abuse, drug overdose deaths and drugs-related problems across the globe.
As part of activities marking this year’s celebration in Ondo state, the NDLEA zone J commander, Parah Julius Bawa and the Ondo State commander, Raji mumuni in company with other staff of the agency and members of the national youth service corps, converged on the police officers mess , for the walk to sensitize Ondo residents on the essence of the day and the need to avoid illicit drugs.
The sensitization walk took participants through NEPA market, Arakale, Deji’s palace and oba adesida roads in Akure metropolis, distributing hand bills and engaging residents on the dangers associated with the use of hard Drugs.
The 2022 anti-drug day has as its theme: Addressing Drug Challenges In Health Humanitarian Crisis.
