Ondo LG election , huge success – Akeredolu

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Saturday has described the conduct of the local government election in Ondo state as a huge success.

Akeredolu stated this shortly after he voted in his hometown at Ward  5, Unit 6 Ijebu Owo around 10.44 am.

He was accompanied by his Wife, Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu.

The Governor  described the turnout for the election as impressive.

Akeredolu however admitted that ODIEC erred by not supplying adequate election materials to some polling units as experienced in Igoba, Akure North local government where voters protested the situation in ile oluji/okegbo area and a few other places.

Our correspondent reports that Accreditation and voting commenced between eight and ten this morning in Owo, the home town of the governor.

Out of the 213 polling units with 11 wards in the council area are ward 1, units 5 and 10 where the exercise began by quarter to nine and ten opcn the dot respectively

Also at ward five, unit six where governor Akeredolu is expected to cast his vote, screening and voting also commenced few minutes to nine

Security were fully on ground while the elders, security agents and electoral officials all abided by covid-19 protocols

Some electorate including the chief of staff to the governor, chief Olugbenga Ale and the state’s attorney general and commissioner for justice, Adekola Olawoye described the council polls as peaceful.
