Ondo 2020: Groups donate #35 million for Akeredolu’s reelection

Ahead of 2020 governorship election in Ondo state, various groups in support of the reelection of governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Tuesday donated a sum of #35 million naira as part of their efforts towards ensuring that the governor win the election.

The groups which cut across all the state comprise political office holders , various interest groups and political associates.

It was also gathered that the speaker ,Ondo state House of assembly ,Bamidele Oleyeloogun donated a sum of # 500,000 in support of the second term agenda of Akeredolu while 18 other members of the house also supported with funds .

Out of the money, #22.5 million was officially presented to Akeredolu to obtain his nomination form.

Addressing the Chairmen and secretaries of the support groups for his reelection in Akure, Akeredolu expressed confidence that he would win any mode of primaries adopted for Ondo state July 20 APC primary, vowing to mobilise people to reelect him based on the performance of his  administration.

Akeredolu urged his supporters under various groups to prepare for any mode of primaries, either Direct or Indirect primaries and work for him to pick the sole governorship ticket of the APC.

Akeredolu appreciated the donors of the fund for their generosity towards securing him the governorship nomination form despite the current global economic hardship

The governor who attributed his emergence as governor to the grace of God, urged the groups to continue to support his giant strides with a view to turning the State around.

In a remark,former speaker, Ondo state House of Assembly Victor Olabimtan said the governor needed to be encouraged to continue his good jobs and developmental projects he started three and half years ago, hence the donation.

Presenting the check to governor Akeredolu, three stalwarts of the political groups, Lucky Ayedatiwa, Chief Alex Ajipe and Princess Oladunni Odu encouraged governor Akeredolu to remain focused in the development of the state.

Also speaking on behalf of the groups, the Convener of Ibi Giga Ambassadors, Chief Alex Ajipe and the leader of Aketi Mandate Group, Hon Saka Ogunleye, expressed happiness that opposition had not accused Akeredolu of nonperformance, but enemies only found joy in blackmailing which usually happened during electioneering period.

Ajipe said some of the projects of Akeredolu’s administration including Ondo-Linyi Industrial Hub, Ore as well as Ore Flyover, would not be forgotten by many generations yet unborn.
