Ojogo Wants Fake Journalists Flushed Out Of Ondo

The commissioner for information and orientation in Ondo state,Mr Donald Ojogo has urged leadership of NUJ to flush out quacks among members in the state.

Mr Ojogo made the call in Akure
while playing host to the State executives of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) who paid him an official familiarization visit.

Ojogo said, “I want to charge NUJ to flush out quacks from the profession in this state, it is even fair in this state but we must not allow them.”

He acknowledged the immeasurable roles of media and journalists in the quest of any administration to succeed in delivering its policies and programmes.

Mr Ojogo explained that facts and records had shown that any government or public office holder that was unfriendly to media professionals could achieve desired results.

The Commissioner said as a core professional journalist and NUJ member of many years, he holds the Union in high esteem and therefore solicited the support of the NUJ leadership at state and various chapels levels to enable him succeed.

He noted that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu would not joke with any effort that could uplift the practice of journalism profession in the state.

Ojogo promised that his ministry would consider various requests of NUJ including training and retraining of information/press officers as well as revamping facilities at the Union’s Press centre, Akure.

“Like you know, am one of you, I hold our Union in high esteem, NUJ remains a Union to be reckoned with; that is why I called for this first meeting with you executive. I want to solicit your full support for our administration and my office.”

“You can always count on me, we must do this job together, if there is anything, always draw my attention to it, I don’t know it all, ” he opined.

Earlier, the State NUJ Chairman, Mr Adetona Aderoboye had expressed appreciation to governor Akeredolu for considering a core journalist like Ojogo as the information Commissioner.

Mr Aderoboye urged the Commissioner to give priority to programmes that would uplift welfare of journalists in the state.
