MFM Coach raises Alarm over dilapidated Sports Facilities

Government at all levels has been challenged to give more attention to sports development,improve dilapidated infrastructures and engage stakeholders in handling sports related matters in the country.

MFM Basketball team coach Aderemi Adewunmi gave the charge at the 2nd edition of Blitzik sports clinic/challenge in basketball at the indoor hall of the Akure sports complex in Ondo state.

Coach Adewunmi who is also the assistant head coach of MFM female basketball team while expressing his satisfaction with the initiative said appointing youths with passion for sports would foster speedy sports development in Nigeria.

General manager Ondo state sports council ,Mr Henry Babatunde appreciated the facilitator Mr Isaac Afolabi for his sacrifice ,calling on other individuals to contribute to sports development in no measure.

Also chairman Sports writers association of Nigeria Ondo state chapter ,Wahab Bankole applauded Isaac Afolabi for standing out and projecting SWAN image beyond writing and reporting sports but impacting lives.

Speaking to journalists, the initiator Blitzik sports and assistant secretary SWAN Ondo state, Afolabi said the aim of the sports NGO is to provide a healthy challenge for athletes,encourage them to,inspire raw talents to embrace sports and education.

He promised to continue to invest in sports and human developments to better the lives of young ones and athletes nationwide.

Afolabi ,a sports correspondent with Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN thanked all stakeholders that made the project a success, particularly Japan Aviation School, Yamanashi, Japan who contributed immensely to the Basketball Clinic/Challenge by donating over 20 basketball for free for the event.

Four states took part in the 3 days basketball clinic/challenge. The states included Ogun,Osun,Ekiti and host Ondo.

Team Ondo downed Team Osun 86 – 44 to finished first position after defeating Osun state in the final in a round robbin followed by Ogun and Ekiti.

Medals,exercise notes,trophy and certificates were presented to the basketball players,school children and other participants.

Also certificates of special recognitions and medals were presented to some individuals that contributed to sports and human development.

Among them are D’tigress assistant Coach Aderemi Adewunmi,Coach,General manager Ondo state sports council Mr Henry Babatude,Pastor Joseph Ezire,Mr Yinka Omogoye,Mr Segun Bright,Coach Sola Aluko,Fisayo Bello and Mrs Olufunmilayo Olatuja.
