Herdsmen Kill Two Farmers In Ekiti

Tension has gripped people of Isaba Ekiti in Ikole Local government area of Ekiti state as youths took to the streets to protest the killing of two farmers by suspected herdsmen.

The aggrieved protesters made bonfire and barricaded various roads in the community to show their grievances over the incessant attack on them by the herders.

It was gathered that the farmers were killed by the herders while working in their farm.

Eyewitness accounts said the herdsmen suddenly appeared and continued to shoot sporadically at the farmers.

According to them, while many of the farmers scampered for safety, two persons were brought down by the herdsmen.

It was however gathered that the attack by the herders was a retaliation of an earlier attack on them by some farmers on the allegation that they set their farms on fire.

One of the victims was popularly known as Jisoro while the other was a Security Guard with a Construction Company.

Their corpses have been recovered by the Amotekun Corps and taken to mortuary.

Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State, Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
