FG empowers 1,500 Niger-Delta youths with vocational training

The Minister of State for  Niger-Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura has restated the commitment of the federal government towards creation of jobs for teeming unemployed youths in the Niger Delta region of the country.

Alasoadura stated this in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital at a weeklong training and empowerment exercise for over 1,500 youths in different vocations.

Our correspondent reports that the 1,500 Youths across the Oil producing states of the Niger Delta were trained in various Entrepreneur vocations such as Training in Poultry, Piggery, Apiculture, Photography, Fishery, Sewing, Tailoring, Weaving, Bead Making, Oil & Gas which was held in various states of the country.

The training is an annual programme of the Ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs across the nine states in the region.

The minister who was represented by Engr. Rotimi Eniasoro said the “main objective of the initiative was to make the Youths of the Niger-Delta region be self-employed and to be meaningfully engaged.

Alasoadura also advised the Youths to seize the opportunity availed them by the Ministry to impact lives positively and to be employers of labour in the shortest possible time.

He congratulated all the over  1,500 participants and admonished them to kindly use their empowerment start-up package of #500,000 to begin various small businesses and grow big.

Some of the participants who spoke on behalf of other trainees, commended the Ministry of Niger-Delta Affairs for the great opportunity and promised to deploy all they learnt during the course of the programme to start up businesses and to be employers of labour.

The participants were all given Certificates of participation at the end of the one-week programme.

The Consultant of the Programme “Dansteph Multi project Limited” represented by her Manager, Mrs Gloria Morah, admonished the beneficiaries to look beyond the start-up Empowerment package.

She urged them to put all the knowledge acquired into various businesses, stressing that the sky would be their limit.
