Ekiti, Ondo differ over Monday’s religious service 

Ekiti State Government has cancelled the customary interdenominational service scheduled for Monday over covid19 pandemic.

The Ondo state government however said the interdenominational service would hold on Monday.

The religious programme is usually held on the first working day of the year.

According to a statement issued by the Ekiti Commissioner for Information, Akin Omole, the cancellation was part of efforts to curtail the spread of coronavirus in Ekiti.

He affirmed Governor Kayode Fayemi’s directive that public workers on grade level 12 and below should work from home.

Omole also appealed to the people to comply with all laid down protocols to protect themselves from contracting the virus.

The commissioner added that the social distancing and face mask-wearing remained mandatory across the state.

Omole emphasized the importance of avoiding crowds, keeping rooms well-ventilated, using alcohol-based hand sanitizers and regular hand washing.

In Ondo state , a statement by Dare Aragbaiye ,Head of Civil Service said “The special 1st working day prayer session with Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu would hold  by 8am. 

As customary, all workers of Ondo State and political office holders are expected to attend in order to dedicate all activities of Government in the new year to God almighty. The venue is the Open Courtyard behind the Governor’s office complex.
Time is 8am.

However, in honour of all members of Government who died in active service in the last one year, all attendees are requested to adorn their dressing with black arm band or conspicuous tinge of black, reflecting soberness and  mourning.

All Political appointees and public servants are requested to give this information the widest publicity. ”
