Edo2024: Tension In Edo APC Over Akohia’s Revelation About Oshiomhole’s Game Plan

There is a video making the rounds where one Alhaji Akokhia claimed to have been told by the leadership of APC, following his visit to Comrade Oshiomhole’s house at Abuja that the governorship ticket of the party would be given to Edo South.

He further said that the leadership prefers one Dennis Idahosa who he claimed defeated Chief Igbinedion in recent elections. He mocked credible aspirants like Zekeri Anamero (Danco Oil) and Clement Agba, a former Minister and advised them to quit the race as they were wasting their money.

It is ironical that his son, “Gani recently survived an election petition instituted against him by PDP after Hon. Zekeri Anamero fully paid the legal fees and related expenses to defend Akokhia’s son”.

Akokhia is a well-known political trader and merchant of falsehood. Even if he was told in Oshiomhole’s house at Abuja that the governorship ticket would be given to Edo South, was he also told that Dennis Idahosa was the aspirant endorsed by APC leadership?

In pretending to be more important than he is, Akokhia gathered local supporters of the party and fed them with falsehood which gained attention in the social media.

Chief Igbinedion is the Esama of Benin and one of the most successful businessmen and politicians in the history of Edo State. When last did Akokhia hear the name of the eminent chief in connection with politics in Edo State?

If Dennis Idahosa won election into the House of Representatives with 1,400 margin of votes after voting in about 15 polling units were controversially canceled, how does that make him more suitable than Hon. Anamero who won his election with thousands of votes and his election was not challenged.

Where was Akokhia in February, 2015 when Edo State Government led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole announced to the whole world that the government received several petitions from overseas, especially Canada, accusing Dennis Idahosa of swindling them of large amounts?

Was Akokhia not aware that Edo State Government set up an Investigative Panel which was said to have made startling findings against Dennis Idahosa? Was Akokhia not aware that the Government asked Dennis Idahosa to openly answer the allegations of 419 leveled against him by several persons?

Is Akokhia not aware that Dennis Idahosa is unable to gain entry into Canada and some European countries in connection with allegations of swindling their citizens of huge sums of money?

It is an insult to Edo South APC that in the midst of aspirants like General Charles Ariavbhere rtd, mni, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, Dr. Washington Osifo, Engr Igiehon and others, Akokhia claimed that the leadership of APC in Edo State has expressed its preference for Dennis Idahosa as its governorship candidate.

Where was the decision taken and who were the leaders of APC present there? Does Akokhia think that Comrade Oshiomhole whose government accused Dennis Idahosa of swindling Nigerians and foreigners alike, would turn around to prefer such a man to occupy Osadebey Avenue as Governor of Edo State?

Oshiomhole must have learnt his lesson after his experience with Governor Obaseki and should not be associated with crooks in politics.

Akokhia is causing severe disaffection in Edo APC. It is nice to know that Etsako West LGA leadership of APC has disassociated itself from the recklessness of Akokhia. But that is not enough. It must subject Akokhia to disciplinary measures to deter other peddlers of falsehood from continuing their trade of collecting money from aspirants in order to mislead party members. Akokia must be called to order.
