Defection: Ondo Assembly can’t impeach me – D’ governor

The Ondo state deputy governor , Agboola Ajayi on Monday said it will be illegal and unconstitutional for the Ondo state House of assembly to make any impeachment move against him over his recent defection to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP).

Ajayi on Sunday defected to the PDP at his ward in ese odo local government where he resigned as the APC member after months of feud with his boss, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Similarly ,on Monday ,the deputy governor was received into the party by the PDP national chairman ,  Uche Secondus who led other leaders of the party to the Ondo state capital to welcome Agboola back.

Speaking with newsmen ,the deputy governor who said he remained the number two citizen of the state, pointed out that he had not done anything constitutionally wrong with his defection.

When asked if he was worried of any impeachment move against him , Agboola said “ The constitution of our country guarantees my free association of my choice.

But I think you guys ( journalists ) should wait the event as it unfolds .”

The deputy governor also restated that he still very much resident at the government house .

Meanwhile, governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has sacked the special assistant, new Media to the governor in the office of the deputy governor, Allen Sowore.

A statement on Tuesday reads :

The Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has relieved Mr Allen Sowore of his appointment with immediate effect.

Until his sack, Mr Sowore was a Special Assistant to the governor on New Media.

Mr Sowore is advised to submit all government’s properties in his possession to the Chief of Staff to the Governor.

The Governor wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavour.
