COVID-19: Edo Receives Additional 40,012 Doses Of Moderna Vaccines

The governnent of Edo State has received additional 40, 012 doses of Moderna vaccines from the Federal Government, as the state intensifies the second phase COVID-19 vaccination exercise to protect more Edo citizens from the deadly virus.

Executive Secretary of Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency EDSPHCDA, Doctor Julie Erhabor, received the vaccines at the Benin Airport on Thursday.

According to Doctor Julie Erhabor the state demanded for more vaccines following the increasing demand for vaccines by citizens as a result of efforts by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government to achieve herd immunity against the virus through vaccination.

She urged residents who have not been inoculated to come out and get the vaccination, noting that the vaccines are safe, free and effective.

She noted that 40,012 doses of Moderna vaccines was accompanied with syringes for the administration of the vaccines and safety boxes.

She disclosed that the vaccines is an addition to the 65,016 doses of Moderna, which the state government received on August 20, 2021.

The demand for the vaccines are on the increase following efforts by the Governor to inoculate a large population of citizens.”

Doctor Erhabor said Having almost exhausted 65,016 doses earlier received, the governnent requested for additional doses to enable the present administration vaccinate a good population of Edo people in order to achieve herd immunity.

She enjoined residents to complement the government’s efforts at containing the pandemic and protecting residents by leveraging the opportunity of the ongoing second phase vaccination exercise to get full protection against the common enemy of mankind.
