It was like a drama in Akure on Tuesday when one of the suspects who allegedly killed Olufunke Olakunri, daughter of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti attempted to escape from the Ondo state Infectious Disease Hospital.
The suspect, Adamu Adamu who is standing trial with three others for the gruesome murder of Mrs. Olakunri had tested positive for COVID- 19 after the first day in court.
It was gathered that the suspect almost escaped at the IDH before the nurses and doctors raised alarm.
It was learnt that the suspect had escaped from where he was isolated before he was arrested.
The suspect was said to have spent longer time in the toilet which arose the suspicion of the health workers.
The incident has forced police authorities in the state to beef up security at the isolation centre.
Our correspondent reports that no fewer than six policemen have been drafted to the centre while the suspect has been chained to his bed to prevent him from escaping from the IDH.
