Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state is expected to address the people on Thursday evening following the news of a suspected case of corona virus in the state.
A reliable source told ROVING REPORTERS that during the state broadcast, Akeredolu will unfold measures to tackle the challenge as well as set up a task force for corona virus.
Our correspondent gathered that health officials as led by the commissioner for health ,Dr Wahab Adegbenro on Wednesday met with the governor and the meeting did not end till around 9pm ,trying to examine the situation.
The source said “There is nothing to fear for now. A man who has been coughing for over one month and if it was actually corona virus ,he wouldn’t have survived it.
Now that it is Ekiti , Mr governor is going to address the state today( Thursday) ,Seven O’Clock pm.
He wanted to do it this morning, but the ministry of health official advised him that he should wait till evening because they wanted to carry out preliminary test on the man with suspected case.
The test is going to Lagos and by now they must have been in Lagos if not close to Lagos because they went as earlier as 4 am to get necessary result and that governor should give them time because they don’t want to give details that would make the public panic.
If not, he would have addressed the people of the state this morning but the address will take place 7pm. ”
Health commissioner, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro had on Wednesday confirmed that there is a suspected case of corona virus in the state capital which was being handled.
An online newspaper had reported that a man named David, who came into Nigeria from Maryland, United States of America, has been taken to a government hospital in Ondo State after being suspected of having Coronavirus.
According to the report, the man is currently being observed at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, Akure, the state capital.
Dr Adegbenro however urged the people of Ondo state not panic as the situation was under control.
