Buhari promises support for investors in Ondo

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with developmental strides of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in Ondo state in jobs creation through industrialization since the inception of his administration in 2017.

President Buhari also assured foreign investors of support at federal and state levels for the success of their investments.

He gave the assurance while inaugurating the Ondo-Linyl Industrial Hub at Omotosho in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State in commemoration of the third anniversary of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in office.

The President said: “I take this opportunity to commend investors who saw Nigeria and Ondo State in particular as a viable investment destination.

“I want to assure you of our continued support both at federal and state levels as we move forward to the next phase of this project’s lifecycle.”

Appreciating traditional rulers and people of the host communities for their tolerance, understanding and support, President Buhari charged them to sustain the collaboration with a view to ensuring the investments expand and succeed.

Buhari said: “I’m confident that these projects based here will utilise locally available raw materials to create jobs for young men and women in this locality, increase knowledge and capacity, and support our import substitution policy.”

Akeredolu had explained that the state government signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese city, Linyl, on industrialization of the state, a statement confirmed by the Business Development Manager of the industrial hub, Mr. Kelvin Zhu.

He said the MoU led to the establishment of cassava to ethanol factory, Plywood industry, wool, lace materials factory within two years.
The governor disclosed that all the raw materials being used in all the industries were all locally sourced.

According to the host governor, the Chinese investors began with helping the state with re-afforestation as they planted several hectares of tree, groundnut and cassava crops.

He said the people of the state would be the major beneficiaries of the projects.

Akeredolu assured his Ogun State counterpart, Governor Dapo Abiodun of the readiness of Ondo State to collaborate with him to explore the benefits of their proximity.

The President later inaugurated the Ore flyover interchange initiated and completed by the Akeredolu’s government.

Buhari said, “during the civil war and during my campaigns since 2002, I have become familiar with the terrain of Ore which is a connecting city between the Southwest an bed the Eastern parts of our country.

”As a result of this, the city has a cosmopolitan population that is in the neighbourhood of 300,000.

”This is a city that can be described as a mini-Nigeria as almost all ethnic groups of our country are happily represented here.

”Let me commend Governor Akeredolu and his team for their great efforts and professionalism in putting this project in place.

“The Interchange will boost economic activities in the State, ease traffic congestion as well as reduce accidents often experienced on the major road.”

”This project is executed in line with the spirit and drive of the Federal Government which puts great emphasis on infrastructural development across our country, especially in the area of transportation,” the President concluded.

Among the personalities who graced the occasion are Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Governor Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti state, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Edo State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, former governor, Ekiti State and Minister of Trade and Industry, traditional rulers among others.
