No live lost in Ekiti Government house bomb explosion

There was a total confusion at the Ekiti State Government House in Ado Ekiti on Saturday morning as an explosion suspected to be a bomb hit the place.

The incident which happened around 8 o’clock in the morning caused scare and tension as people scampered for safety.

After the explosion, there was a heavy smoke oozing out of the government house and it was yet to be confirmed if there was casualty or the level of damage.

Another account said the incident also affected a section of the Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs and damaged parts of the Ministry of Finance, and other buildings in the premises.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu confirmed an explosion in the government house but promised to get back to newsmen for update.

Meanwhile the state government has claimed the explosion did not claim any live.

Muyiwa Olumilua, Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation in a statement said “An explosion was reported earlier this morning at the Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) office in Ado Ekiti.


An initial on -the- spot assessment confirms that there are no casualties and the area is secured with no further threats.


Members of the public are advised to go about their normal duties. ”
