Abandoned Road Contract:Residents, Commutters, Others, Protest Against Poor Condition Of Akure -Ado -Ekiti Road.

Aggreived Motorists,  Residents of Akure -Ado -Ekiti Road, Ondo State  have protested against alleged abandonment of Construction work on the Road  by a Contractor for almost two years.
The protest which lasted several hours temporarily disrupted social and economic  activities in the area. 
Commercial car drivers especially  those travelling were not left out as they could  not proceed  on their journey. 

The protesters are not happy with the condition  of their Road for several Years.

They once heaved Sigh of Relief when the Contract for the Construction of the Road was awarded to a Contractor in Abuja by the Federal Government.
 But the Local Residents say they   are now  very  dissapointed as the Contractor has abandoned the project and disappeared for over fifteen months .
The aggrieved  Protesters armed with placards with different inscriptions  added that social and economic  activities in the area have been adversely affected.

They said  Vehicle Owners   and Commercial vehicle Drivers now spend better part of their days and weeks in the the Mechanic Workshops over repairs

They also lamented  that  the road is now a death trap and an avenue for kidnapping  activities to thrive. 
They appealed  to the Federal government to as a matter of urgency revoke the contract and award it to a qualified contractor who is willing to deliver. 
Speaking earlier , Comrade Niyi Majofodun, Biyi Poroye,Josemaria Adeusi and others lamented that since the Akure – Ado Ekiti road had been awarded, the contractor had not carried out any serious work on the road.

Comrade Majofodun alleged that the contractor alongside some public servants were frustrating President Buhari’s efforts after the road project had been awarded for over twenty-two billion naira to the company handling it without moving to the site.
