AAUA Students Raise Alarm Over Insecurity

Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, AAUA students living off campus have raised alarm over security challenges facing them and called for timely intervention of the school’s authorities and the Nigeria Police.

Speaking with news men, the President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), AAUA Branch, Adesomoju Samuel, described the recent continuous robbery attacks across Off campus hostels at Akungba town in Ondo state as life threatening to the students.

“It’s giving the students union great concern, we hereby call on security operatives to guarantee the safety of our students or else we students will RISE.”

“Grin, anyways it might not go down well when we thus RISE and take up this finally.”

In a Letter addressed to the Ondo state police command, Commissioner of Police, Akungba Host community (the monarch Alale of Akungba) and all media organizations outlet, the SUG President called for urgent actions against insecurity in Akungba township in the interest of the students living off campus.

In an interview, the Public Relations officer of AAUA, Mr Victor Akinpelumi, said the school’s management in conjunction with security operatives had been working round the clock to protect students residing outside the campus.

“The AAUA management received the report of armed robbery attack on its students that are living off campus, precisely in “Medoline” and “Cele” areas of Akungba Akoko.”

Akinpelumi said, “the University, had since, taken some bold steps to put a stop to the incessant armed robbery attacks on its students that are living in these areas.”

‘Several meetings were held with students and landlords in the areas on how the attack could be put to a stop.”

“Apart from this, the University has also put in place a joint patrol team which comprises of the NIGERIA police force, the university’s security outfit,some paramilitary associations and local Vigilantes to patrol these areas and also curb the areas and other areas students are being attacked.”
