NLC alleges ALGON of plotting mass retrenchment of Ondo workers

The Nigeria Labour Congress, Ondo State Council received the news of the obnoxious and highly vexatious interview granted by the Hon. (Engr.) Alex Oladimeji, Executive Chairman, Ifedore Local Government on a live telecast in OSRC today 5th March, 2021.

The Congress looked and saw beyond Oladimeji speaking but, a case of ‘Esau’s voice coming from the body of Jacob’.

The deliberate and unprovoked outburst against civil servants at the Local Government level portend to us, a grand plan by ALGON to surreptitiously sell the idea of ‘right sizing’ to government.

As a Labour Centre, we vehemently reject and cry against this ploy as the SCARS and MEMORIES of those we lost to year 2013 ‘sweeping tsunami’ of workers at that level of government is still very much fresh in our minds. We lost friends, fathers, mothers and children!

The Congress is able, ready and willing to lead a serious campaign against sacking of our members under any guise whatsoever.

The government of Arakunrin Akeredolu is our government. It is a house we jointly and collectively build and we make bold to say, we have the confidence of Mr. Governor not to sack any worker in the service of Ondo State.

Let it be known that, the ‘wickedness of the wicked shall destroy them’. Whoever is drumming the beat of retrenchment in Ondo State will dance to it; himself and family.

It is indeed painful and a pity that, the Chairmen we all worked for to attain their present position are now turning against us seeking our ‘downfall’. The Lord will not allow it!

Our members in the Local Government service are dutiful, loyal and dedicated and as labour mother body, we stand in their defence now and always.

Finally, we call on our own Arakunrin Akeredolu and the leadership of APC in Ondo State to ‘tame’ their Chairmen and call them to order.

We shall stop at nothing in ensuring that no worker in the state is sentenced to early and unripe retirement.
