Ondo Workers issue Fresh Ultimatum to govt over unpaid salaries

The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical And Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) in Ondo state has given the OSOPADEC Management two -day ultimatum(Wednesday) to meet its demands over non payment of salaries.

The Union said “ but that failure to meet with the deadline, the union will have no option than to embark on indefinite strike to press home their demands.

This followed the expiration of the 3-day ultimatum issued by the Staff of OSOPADEC and the plan to thereafter embark on strike over the non-payment of their salaries and other emoluments by the Accountant General, Mr Laolu Akindolire.

The fresh ultimatum was part of the outcome of a meeting involving OSOPADEC Management team and state AUPCTRE with OSOPADEC branch held on Monday at the Commission’s head office, Oba-Ile.

Our correspondent reports that the Management, during the meeting, informed the union of their efforts so far at meeting the demands of the staff and appealed that the proposed strike be shelved and requested for another 48-hours to resolve the lingering crises by meeting with the Accountant General and other appropriate offices for the release of funds towards the payment of salaries and other emoluments as approved by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

One of the Union leaders said “As a follow-up to this appeal, the union Executive has given the Management the 48hours as requested, but that failure to meet with the deadline, the union will have no option than to embark on indefinite strike to press home their demands. ”
