President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Revd Olasupo Ayokunle has blasted the Federal government for allegedly being insensitive to traffic challenges facing Nigerians along Lagos- Ibadan expressways.
Revd Ayokunle stated this in akure at the Commendation and appreciation service in honour of Revd John Oladapo on the completion of 10 years tenure of office as the president ,Ondo state Baptist conference.
He said “ The Lagos ibadan expressway is not the problem, but the owners of the road are the problem.
That road is a misfit to the volume of the vehicles plying it everyday. In a nation where we value lives, that road would have been expanded many years before now.
If Lagos- ibadan expressway would give the people needed comfort when they travel on it ,it should not have less than four lanes to ,four lane fro.
Overseas where they value lives of the people ,roads are monitored year after year and necessary expansion are made to address traffic congestion. But here , it is the last thing to be done.
It is more than ten years now that they have been talking about rehabilitation of Lagos – Ibadan expressway. About 100 kilometers road.
The problem you see on that road is the problem of lazy leadership.
Secondly, the problem we witness on that road is as a result of lack of commitment to develop other means of transportation.
I don’t know why good things have become a nightmare in the country.
Nigeria has highly intelligent people but something must be wrong somewhere . ”
He prayed that God would give the right leadership for Nigeria.
