SDP candidate calls for cancelation of Ondo LG Poll

A councillorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP ,in the last Saturday local government election in Ondo state, Emmanuel Adu has called for the cancelation of the election following alleged irregularities that characterized the process at Ijare ward two, Ifedore local government area of the state.

Speaking with ROVING REPORTERS, on Monday, Adu who also alleged the ODIEC of plans to announce an APC candidate, Kehinde Oluwajana as the winner in the election said result of the poll did not reflect the wishes of voters as there was no election in the ward.

According to Adu, ODIEC staff deliberately came with ballot papers that were not sufficient for the voters in all the 11 polling units in his ward and efforts to let them do the needful did not yield any success.

He pointed out that having realized the irregularities during the election, voters in the ward protested to the palace of Olujare of Ijare , Oba Adebamigbe Oluwagbemigun who calmed the irate voters down while the ODIEC staff had left unannounced.

Adu explained that after the inconclusive election, all party agents agreed that the election would be conducted again.

He said “ It will be against the wishes of Ijare people to announce APC candidate in an election that was not concluded. We have protested to the palace of Olujare after we discovered the atrocities ODIEC officials were committing during the election.

I am aware that despite the irregularities from ODIEC, they have written the name of  Kehinde Oluwajana of APC as the winner. That is not fair to the people of Ijare.

ODIEC should re conduct the election in our ward. Even if APC wins ,let it be clear that it was a free and fair election but shortchanging the voters will not be accepted. ”

Efforts to get the reactions of ODIEC Public Relations Officers is unsuccessful as of the time of filing the report.
