Ondo 2020: Group urges Mimiko to concedes ZLP ticket to Deputy Gov

Ahead of October 10, 2020 governoship election, Ondo State Southern Senatorial Patriotic Movement (OSSSPM) has urged the immediate past Governor of the state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko to allow the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi fly the Zenith Labour Party ticket.

The group noted that the state is in dire need of a third force that would dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and also prevent the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from taking over the state.

A statement issued and signed by its coordinator, Comrade Wale Edamisan says the entire populace of Ondo State are glamouring for a party that would wrestle power from the old hands APC and PDP and it is their firm belief that only the ZLP where Mimiko is the national leader can rescue them from the bondage of “familotocracy government”

OSSSPM said Mimiko must understand that apart from the political clout Ajayi controls in the southern senatorial district, he also enjoys tremendous supports across the 18 local governments, adding that the people are well determined to follow the deputy governor to any party he goes.

The group hinted that majority of cabinet members of Akeredolu’s government are only waiting for Ajayi to make this move before dumping the ruling party, saying that Ajayi’s defection into ZLP would be a huge value to the sustainability of ZLP not just in Ondo State but in Nigeria.

“We are urging the national leader of ZLP and who is also a former governor of the state to consider Hon. Agboola Ajayi for the ZLP ticket. He is a grassroot mobilizers and the people of the southern senatorial who cannot wait for another four years are determined to follow to your party.

“We are very optimistic that Ajayi has the political capacity to dislodge both Akeredolu and Jegede during the October 10, poll. He is pur choice and the choice of the majority of our people in the state”.
