Ondo 2020: Guber aspirants question integrity of APC delegates ahead of primaries

No fewer than 10 aspirants seeking the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State have questioned the integrity of  the party delegates for the July 20, governorship primary election.

The governorship aspirants alleged that the delegates cannot be trusted if the party finally decides to use indirect mode of primary.

They described the delegates as vultures who are out to make money.

The aspirants who include Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, Ife Oyedele, Olayide Adelami and others, had already sent a protest letter to the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja on the need to adopt direct mode of primary.

It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), through its Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Ambassador Rufus Akeju disclosed to journalists few days ago in Akure that the party had already sent Indirect mode of primary to the commission for its primary election.

The aspirants, who also vowed to boycott the exercise if the party goes ahead with its decision on indirect, explained that all the party delegates would only go for the highest bidder.

“We can’t trust these delegates, they are vultures waiting to eat a dying child. These people will suck us dry. Our experiences in their hands during the 2016 APC governorship primary election still fresh in our memories.

“Apart from the undisputed fact that majority of them were handpicked by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, they can easily cash out. Their loyalty is for money bag politicians and they don’t care about development of the state.

“The party maybe divided if Governor Mai Bala Buni led’s Caretaker Transition Committee (CTC) refuses to give us Direct. APC should be rest assure that Zamfara scenario is knocking in Ondo State”, the aspirants said.
