Ondo state governor , Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has alleged his deputy ,Agboola Ajayi of deliberately plotting to disrupt the existing peace through a plan protest aimed at hijacking government by force.

Akeredolu had last week announced that he was tested positive for Covid19, saying he was asymptomatic and based on the fact ,he would be attending to government activities from his isolation.

Agboola through Tope Okeowo, his  press secretary indicated he (Ajayi) “was not prepared to step in for Governor Akeredolu, since he was not incapacitated.”

There was however a twist as pressure was mounted on Akeredolu to step down from people suspected to be followers of Agboola who recently defected to the opposition PDP to chase his ambition of taking over the government from his boss ahead of October 10th governorship election.

Addressing newsmen in Akure on Sunday ,Akeredolu who spoke through his commissioner for Information ,Donald Ojogo alleged that the government had uncovered plans by the deputy governor to stage  protest aimed at causing unrest In the state.

Ojogo said “He has released funds to an abuja based lawyer and some students and former students union leaders to protest in his favour to put much pressure on governor to hand over to him.

The legitimate protest which intelligence say will be held on Wednesday was meant to disrupt the peace in the state.

The deputy governor has left the party but he wants to continue to create chaos within the party to elicit foreign attention.

We call on parents to call their children to order and desist from such protest that could endanger their lives. ”

Ojogo pointed out that it was morally wrong for a sitting deputy Governor to ask his principal to handover to him when he is still alive and not incapacitated.

The commissioner appealed to the Deputy Governor to reduce his level of desperation to become the Governor at all costs.

Ojogo added that all the distractions from Agboola Ajayi will not affect the running of Government in the state.

In a reaction, the media adviser to the Deputy Governor, Allen Sowore dismissed the allegation.

Sowore said “It’s not true. The Deputy Governor is busy consulting with the leaders of the People’s Democratic Party- from one local government to another.

“You see, the Deputy Governor has become the nightmare of the Akeredolu’s camp. This is the same man that they have said has no electoral value, now they’re sleepless. ”
