Fear Grips Ondo APC governorship aspirants over appointment of new Caretaker Committee

The sack of the All Progressives Congress ( APC )  National Working Committee( NWC) by President Muhammadu Buhari appears to have heightened tension in the APC fold in Ondo state, especially among the governorship aspirants vying in the governorship primaries in July 20th, 2020.

The National Executive Council, NEC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had on Wednesday dissolved the National Working Committee, NWC of the party and in place constituted Caretaker Committee And Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee.

Members of the APC Caretaker Committee And Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee comprised : Governor Mai Bala Buni (Yobe) Chairman

Isiaka Oyetola, Governor Osun (South West)
Ken Nnamani (South East)
Stella Okorete – Women Rep
Governor Sani Bello (North Central)
Dr. James Lalu (Physically challenged)

Others are ,Sen. Abubakar Yusuf (Senate Rep)
Hon. Akinyemi Olaide (House of Reps)
David Lyon (South South)
Abba Ari (North West)
Prof. Tahir Mamman (North East)
Ismail Ahmed (Youths) and , Sen. Akpan Udoedehe (Secretary)

One of the aspirants in a chat expressed regrets that the selection of some governors could be a factor on the outcome of the primary election scheduled to hold in July 20th .

According to him, even though something needed to be done to arrest the possible drift, the timing shows that a level playing field was no longer feasible in the governorship race.

He said “From the look of things, the governors have at last, taken control of the APC.

“We know that the governors were up to something when they made frantic efforts to save Obaseki but failed.

The Appeal Court ruling that caused this crisis didn’t come from nowhere, the governors reactivated it to embarrass Oshiomhole when they could not persuade him to forgive Obaseki.

“With this development, we doubt if there will be a level playing ground because these governors are like a fraternity”, he said.
