World widows day: Ondo first Lady, Mrs Akeredolu puts smile on faces of 1,500 widows in Akure

The wife of the ondo state governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu has put smiles into the faces of no fewer than 1,500 widows in akure, the Ondo state capital.

The widows who cut across Akure South Local Government Area  benefited from Mrs Akeredolu’s gesture which included foodstuffs and cash palliatives in commemoration of this year’s celebration of International Widows Day in Akure.

Our correspondent reports that the Akure South Local Government Secretariat,venue of the distribution, was filled to the brim to collect the palliatives under the supervision of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research & Documentation, Mrs Tope Daniyan.

Mrs. Akeredolu stressed the need to care for the widows saying that the state government was committed to improving the lives of the affected women.

She pointed out that the present administration would continue to put in place measures to make life devoid of grief and more meaningful for them just as she emphasized that the data of widows available to the Government through the Office of the First Lady at www.ondowidows.com were necessary to enable the government plan, manage and evenly distribute resources to the widows in the State.

In a remark, Mrs Tope Daniyan applauded Mrs Akeredolu for the gesture restating her passion for women development through her numerous initiatives.

According to her, the respective bank account of the Widows will be credited aside the foodstuff palliatives handed out to them.

The distribution of the palliatives is expected to continue throughout the 18 local government areas of the state.
