Araromi /Lekki Road: Aheri monarch makes clarion call to natives for community development

Following the decision of the Ondo state government to partner the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the construction of a 50-kilometre road to link Ibeji Lekki in Lagos State and Araromi seaside in Ondo State,the traditional ruler of Aheri land in the Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Richard Adubi Ige kudehinbu, has urged natives of the kingdom home and abroad to contribute their quota towards the development of the land.

Oba Kudehinbu who noted that the road construction would open development in the area hence the need for sons and daughters of Aheri land to commence plans to industrialise the area.

The traditional ruler promised to support any native of the area who plan to develop the area, noting that the construction of the road will open up their area for development.

He said the project if completed would make travel from Araromi, which is in Ilaje Local Government of the state and Akodo in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos state relatively easier and faster.

The traditional ruler promised to make available lands for industrial development and for tourism, noting that the land is rich in arts and culture to attract the world to the area once the road construction is completed.

He said “come come home to develop aheri land, land available for industrial development and tourism, it is better for us to start now to develop out land as communities in this kingdom will be opened to the world.

“The road will enhance tourism. The southern side of the state no doubt is well suited for tourism and a well -developed Travel and Tourism industry can improve access to international markets, enhance business relationships, and increase trade opportunities which the state stands to gain.

“The proposed port to be sited here is another added advantage,  by the time we know it,  our land will be turned to commercial heart beat of the south west state.

“Once this project is completed, the people in the area and it’s environs can now travel to Lagos by road in less than an hour, as against the usual four or five hours spent through other roads to Lagos.

“The construction of the 50 kilometers road from Akodo in Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State to Araromi in Ilaje local government area of Ondo State will no doubt boost integrated economic development in Ibeju Lekki and Ondo State”

He commended the present administration in the state for the laudable and remarkable project in the southern senatorial district of the state.

He called on the state government and NDDC not to allow this project to suffer the fate of other projects in the past which had been  abandoned midway and enjoined that they should be thoroughly  monitored.

He pledged that the community leaders in the areas  will ensure safety of contractors who have been mobilised to site, so that no act will militate against the  construction and completion of the project.
