Ondo: No Attack will distract us from winning LG polls –Fasua

The chairmanship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)in Akure South Local Government Area for the April 18 Local Government election in Ondo State,Gbenga Fasua, says he as well as the party remain focused on achieving victories at the polls.

Fasua recently escaped being killed following an attack on his home where  some valuables were carted away by the assailants who battered the house with gunshots.

Narrating his ordeals, the Chairmanship hopeful said, “I returned home from OSRC where I featured alongside the APC’s Vice Chairman candidate, Barr. Abitogun on a popular Yoruba programme, “Oselu”, anchored by the distinguished Daisi Ajayi, on Thursday night, and I was still in bed about 11:45 PM when I heard sporadic shooting in my compound.

“Eventually, the heavily armed five-man assailants forced their way into my house and were releasing rounds of bullets, and asking my wife repeatedly, ‘where is your husband?’. By that time, I was already concealed somewhere in the compound. My wife told them I had gone out to attend a meeting but the criminals insisted that they were on my trail to the house.

Later, they saw my brother in the house, thinking I was the one, they struck him severally and he shouting, ‘I’m his brother, I’m his brother’. They saw my phone and asked why I didn’t go out with it and they were told that I went with a small phone. They searched through the house, threatening to kill all members of my family for lying about my whereabouts.

“Eventually, they raked up 5 phones, including mine, ATM cards, and took away the cash they saw in the bedroom. They also shot my dog and collected keys to the two vehicles in the compound. They drove out the first one from the gate but the other stopped after it was move to the gate, and they finally left about 1:12am.

Hon. Fasua said he immediately reported the incident to the Ijapo Police Division and a patrol team accompanied him back home to ascertain and assess the situation.

He thanked the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Undie Adie and the leadership of the Ijapo Division for releasing some of their men on the patrol of his house.

Hon. Fasua also appreciated his supporters in his constituencies and beyond for standing by him, promising to justify their confidence in them when he emerges Chairman of the Akure South LGA.
