UPDATED: Why I opted out of APC Unity Forum –Kekemeke

An APC governorship aspirant in Ondo state , Dr. Isaacs Kekemeke has said he left a platform known as unity forum within the all progressives congress (APC ) because he can no longer associate with or participate in any group that could further bring about disharmony and division to the party ahead of the governorship election in the state.

Kekemeke disclosed this in Akure while chatting with members of the Ondo state online journalists.

He also urged the members of the online newspapers in Ondo state to uphold professionalism especially in the build up to the governorship election in the state.

He said “i want you to use your different platforms to uphold professionalism because we all know you are influencers in the society. ”

Kekemeke who was the pioneer chairman of APC in the state said considering his efforts in ensuring stability of the party in 2014 in the state, he would rather intensify efforts towards ensuring unity among all members of the party.

He went memory lane on how he and former deputy governor of Ondo state Alhaji Alli Olanusi formed unity forum so as to give voice to aggrieved APC members that felt cheated by current leadership of the party and that of the governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu–led administration.

Kekemeke said “ When Alhaji Alli Olanusi fell out with Akeredolu, we decided to work together so that all those who are excluded can have voice.

I decided to opt out after the leadership of our party like Alhaji Bola Tinubu ,baba Bisi Akande, Segun Osoba ,governor Fayemi and former governor Adebayo as well as Chief Pius Akinyelure came to meet with us and appealed to us to work together and build a united party and i felt that it was the right thing to do.

They asked us to find a domestic solution to the problem especially the exclusive style of Akeredolu’s government and the party leadership in the state. Other problem include the structure of the party.

So for me, all we need to do as lovers of APC , is to pursue that process to a logical conclusion to see that we have a united party without prejudice to any individual’s rights or aspiration.

But if we destroy the party,what platform are we going to be using for our aspirations ? And i said No, I am not going to work with them to destroy the party but to make sure that we have one united party . That was the point of departure.

I worked hard in order to build this party, i can not work with anybody to destroy the party. ”

On his ambition to be governor of Ondo state, Kekemeke explained that the people were not feeling the impacts of Akeredolu’s administration, saying,
“Governor Akeredolu has done his best, working so hard, but the people are not feeling the impacts”

Kekemeke who is popularly known as “LEKE-LEKE” said, “government has lost focus and needs redirection, it’s too invisible and we need to make it visible, government is too aloof and we will be proactive.

“Government has become principality and power and the citizens have become the victims, people have become hopeless, helpless and frustrated, the Lekeleke Brand is the a brand that will put smiles on the faces of the people.

“My government will provide free, compulsory primary and secondary education while our tertiary education will be highly subsidized.

“I mean, primary and secondary education will be free and compulsory while higher education will be highly subsidized in order to give our people access to education just as Chief Obafemi Awolowo did.

“Also, primary health care will be accessible and I will make sure that the programme that the Agagu administration instituted is reinvigorated by ensuring that all the political wards have functional basic health centres with a competent and qualified medical health officers heading each across all the political wards in the state.

I will promote, develop indigenous medicine and build the Ibile Hospitals. ”
