We need your support for safer Akungba – Acting AAUA VC tells monarch

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has called on the host community to collaborate with the Institution to ensure security of lives and property of members of the University’s Community.

Prof. Ige, made the call on Tuesday last week during a courtesy visit to the monarch of the community, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, in his palace.

He lamented the worrisome rise of cases of kidnapping, burglary, and robbery in Akungba and its environs in recent times stressing the need for concerted efforts toward stemming the ugly tide.

Accompanied by members of the University Management team, Prof. Ige, said the visit was to formally introduce himself to the monarch in his new capacity as Acting Vice Chancellor.

He thanked the traditional ruler for his efforts at ensuring peaceful co-existence of the community and members of the University Community.

Receiving the Management team alongside his chiefs, and other major stakeholders in the community, the Alale of Akungba, Oba Sunday Adeyeye, appreciated the action of the team and specially congratulated Prof. Ige on his recent appointment as Acting Vice Chancellor.

While urging the Management to sustain the cordial relationship between the University and the community, Oba Adeyeye promised to collaborate with the Institution in putting in place measures that would guarantee security of lives and property.

Acknowledging the lean purse of the University, the monarch called on the Institution to improve on its Corporate Social Responsibility and engender more developments in the community.

He also urged the University to relate with any association or group in the community through his palace.
