Non compliance mars last environmental sanitation exercise in Ondo

Non compliance with restriction of Human and vehicular movement order marred the environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday in Akure ,which was the last for the year 2019 in Ondo state.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Ondo state on Friday warned those who are in the habit of contravening the provision of the extant law of the exercise to desist as those caught by law enforcement agents during the exercise would be prosecuted.

ROVING REPORTERS correspondent who monitored the exercise on Saturday observed that though shops and other business centres were not open during the exercise, motor parks were operating along oba Adesida road.

Okada riders and few taxis were also seen operating along alagbaka without being checked or any arrest made.

Some waste management staff were however seen parking waste around akure major market.

At Post Office area in Akure, some environmental officials as well as some WAI officers mounted road block to stop moving vehicles.

Speaking with ROVING REPORTERS under the condition of anonymity, one of the Officials expressed worries over the level of non compliance by road users.

He said “ we can not arrest them because the courts are not working and we don’t have the capacity to detain them.

Those we stopped and discovered  they are not on any essential or official duty ,were asked to park and start cleaning nearby gutters.

They claimed they were not aware of any restriction of movement order and there’s nothing we could do to sanction them. ”
