Final Year Student of Ondo College seeks Help Over inability to pay Fees

A final year Student, Ayodele Olowu has dropped out of Ondo state Government Technical College, Idanre as a result of his parents’ failure to pay his school fee of eighty-two thousand naira (#82,000).

It was gathered that the parents of Ayodele who is studying “Welding & Fabrication”, could not afford the fee.

The father is a driver while Ayodele’s mother is a petty trader.

The school’s authorities allegedly prevented Ayodele from participating in the compulsory Industrial Training (IT) since September, 2019 due to the nonpayment of the tuition.

It was further learnt that the school introduced the high tuition on the order of the Ondo state Ministry of Education, in-spite of the state government’s claim of free education for primary and secondary schools.

A representative of an NGO, ‘We Aspire Youth Mentorship Initiative’, Mr Dennis Ogungbemi, confirmed to newsmen that, “we need help for a student, Master Olowu Ayodele who recently dropped out of Government Technical College Idanre on resumption date (September 16th, 2019) for a sum of #82 000….He is enrolled for welding and fabrication and is a final student. I am contacting you to raise financial assistance for the boy, so that his academic career will not be terminated unduly.”

Ogungbemi said, “we have gone to the school to verify and we begged the principal to allow our NGO to be paying the tuition in installment, but he insisted that they don’t allow such for final year student.”
