Food Poisoning: Akeredolu not active on Social Media – Findings

Following claims and counter claims within and outside the Ondo state government on why governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has not been active in office for 28 days, ROVING REPORTERS has also discovered that the governor has been inactive on his social media pages.

After going on his 14 days vacation on 19th August, governor Akeredolu resumed office on 4th September ,2019.

However, the last outing of governor Akeredolu was on Friday, 20th September, 2019 when he received Traditional Rulers from Ikale, led by Oba George Babatunde Faduyile, the Abodi of Ikaleland, at Governor’s office, Alagbaka, Akure.

Same day, Akeredolu received some members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into the APC in Akure.

Following reactions from various quarters that the governor had been in the hospital and recovering from food poisoning,the Ondo state government has debunked the rumours of his illness.

His information commissioner,Ojogo, who spoke with journalists in Akure, the state capital on Thursday, said the Governor went for his annual vacation and had returned to Abuja where he had been attending to various matters that concerned the state.

He said the Governor would soon return to the state.

“Mr Governor went for his annual vacation. After spending 10 days from it, he came back to attend to some domestic issues and shortly after his daughter’s wedding, he proceeded for the rest of the vacation and returned on October 4, (2019). Since then he has been in Abuja to attend to many important issues, including political meetings because he does not want to be going Abuja every day.”

A look at his official twitter account @rotimiakeredolu however revealed that governor Akeredolu who is known for his versatility on social media has not twitted since September 26,going to almost a month.

His last post was a re-tweet of a post of @innovate_ondo

Also on his Facebook page @ Rotimi Akeredolu Aketi, the last time he posted was on 26th, September 2019 at 10:21 pm.

On his Facebook account @Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi,there have however been shared posts till Thursday October 17th.
