Ondo NUJ Appoints Olowa As Royal Patron

The Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ Ondo state Council, on Friday appointed the Olowa and Paramount Ruler of Igbara-Oke kingdom, HRM., Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede as their Royal Patron.

This was communicated to the Monarch when the 2019 Press Week Committee members of the Union paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Olowa of Igbara-Oke.

In a letter jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Bisi Longe and Tola Gbadamosi, and presented to Oba Agbede, stated that his appointment was based on his track record in transforming the Union and for his positive contributions to the development of men of the pen professions in the Ondo State.

“As partners and friends in these common goals of positively transforming the nation, we have the greatest honour and privilege to inform you that you have been appointed as the Royal Fathers of our Great Union in Ondo state”, the letter reads.

According to them, Olowa of Igbara-Oke has become the third recipient of the honour after the current Chairman of Ondo State Council of Obas and Olugbo of Ugbo kingdom, HRM, Oba Frederick E.O. Akinruntan CFR, and Deji of Akure kingdom, HRM, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi.

The conferment ceremony, which is part of the week long programme lined up for the year 2019 Press Week is scheduled for Tuesday 26, November 2019 at the NUJ Press Center, Alagbaka in Akure.

Also, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, will be decorated as the Union’s Grand Patron.

In his response, Oba Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede appreciated their gesture for the honour bestowed on him.

He said the role of their media in bringing the information closer to the people via various channels has helped increased the patronage of the traditional institutions.

Oba Agbede also commended Journalists in the state for the kind cooperation and support his palace has being enjoying since he ascended the throne.

He assured the union of his expected Fatherly role in further appreciation of their gesture as he becomes the Royal Patron.
