NYSC Paved way for Marrying my Wife – Akeredolu

Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has lauded the NYSC for being instrumental to his becoming a detribalised Nigerian.

Akeredolu disclosed this when the NYSC management and corps members in the state made a surprise visit to his office in Akure to celebrate his birthday with him.

The Governor said that without NYSC, he would not have been able to understand another culture not to talk of marrying outside his kinsmen.

He explained that his service year provided him with a bone of his ribs of over three decades, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.

In his words, ‘I am a strong beneficiary of the National Youth Service Corps programme because the Scheme provided me with the opportunity to marry my beautiful angel who is from another geopolitical zone’ .

According to him, the National Youth Service Corps Scheme is a programme that has made great impact on the nation as it is evident in the inter tribal marriage which he benefited from.

Akeredolu thanked the NYSC Family for identifying with him during the celebration saying the cake presented to him indicated the reunion with NYSC Family.

The Governor who is known for his frank and honest disposition to issues brought to his attention upon prompting from the State Coordinator has given his words ‘to personally visit the orientation camp very soon’.

He also promised to provide more canopies to NYSC to shade the corps members from the scorching sun and heavy rains during their programmes and activities.

Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio said that the visit was to celebrate an icon and a leader who has shown great compassion on the Scheme since his assumption of office two years ago.

Mrs. Akpabio equally said that the coming of NYSC Family to felicitate ‘with our own is to say thank you to governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for hosting the top echelon of the management nationwide during the 2018 NYSC Annual Management Conference adjudged to be the best in recent years by former Director General, Major General Suleiman Zakare Kazaure’.

The highlight of the visit was the cutting of birthday cake by the celebrants, Governor Akeredolu with the NYSC management and representatives of the corps members.
