Cabinet reshuffle imminent as Buhari sends list of nominees to Senate: to replace Amaechi, Onu, Nwajiuba, Akpabio, others

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a list of seven ministerial nominees to the Senate to set the stage for a cabinet reshuffle.

The list has been received by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria via an executive communication.

The nominees were on Tuesday unveiled by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, who read the letter by President Buhari.

The nominees would replace ministers that resigned to contest for the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and other political ventures.

“In accordance with Section 8 Subsection 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I hereby forward the underlisted ministerial nominees for your confirmation.

Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh – Abia State
Umana Okon Umana – Akwa Ibom State
Egwumakama Joseph Nkama – Ebonyi State
Goodluck Nnana Opiah – Imo State
Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub – Kano State
Ademola Adewole Adegoroye – Ondo State
Odum Odih – Rivers State

Ikoh from Abia State is time fill the vacancy created by Uche Ogah who resigned to pursue his gubernatorial ambition while Umana fills the vacancy created by former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.

Nkama replaces former Minister of Science and Technology,  Ogbonnaya Onu  whileOpuah replaces former Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba.

Odih replaces former Minister of Transportation,  Rotimi Amaechi while Adegoroye replaces former Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs,  Tayo Alasoadura, who resigned to contest the ticket for Ondo Central Senatorial seat.

El-Yakub from Kano State fills the vacancy created by a sacked former Minister of Agriculture, Mohammed Nanono.
