8th Edo state House of Assembly Inaugurated: Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku and Hon Maria Edeko emerge as Speaker and Deputy.

The 8th Edo State House of Assembly has been inaugurated with Honourable Blessing Agbebaku, a Member representing the Owan West constituency emerging as the new Speaker of the Assembly.
He was returned unopposed after a nomination made by Honourable Nathasha Osawaru, Member representing Egor constituency, and seconded by Hon Addeh Enamakhu member representing Esan North East 1(0ne) constituency.
While Honourable Maria Edekor member representing Esan North East constituency two(2), emerged as the Deputy Speaker after her nomination by Honourable Destiny Enabulele representing Ovia South West constituency.
The Clerk, Alhaji Yahaya Audu Omogbai, thereafter administered the oath of office to the Speaker and Deputy.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku later inaugurated other members of the 8th Assembly.
In his acceptance speech, the Speaker Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku thanked members for the honor done him, stressing that he would be fair to all irrespective of party affiliations.
Rt Hon Blessing Agbebaku Urged all members to close ranks towards ensuring the house synergizes with other arms of government for the development and socioeconomic growth of the state.
The Inauguration of the 8th House of Assembly follows the proclamation by the state governor, Godwin Obaseki
Present at the Inauguration was Edo state Deputy Governor Rt Hon Comrade Phillip Shaibu, Acting Chief judge of Edo state, Justice D. O Okungbowa, Immediate past Speaker of Edo state House of Assembly and Member Representing Esan West Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Marcus Onobun ksc, Former members of the Edo State House of Assembly and party leaders.
The House thereafter adjourned the plenary until Monday, June 19, 2023.
